Junior High Study Hall

While COGITATING what I should blog, words and numbers kept coming to mind.  Just last week, my SAGACITY was stretched beyond the limits of late. As a substitute teacher, I am never quite sure what to expect. On one particular, day mathematics and literacy vocabulary did not bring FELICITY to the junior high students in my study hall. One student’s paper seemed to be EVANESCENT because he was certain he just had it. He then began to UPBRAID me for taking his assignment!

Trying to help another student solve properties in math, I realized a WILY student sitting next to him was copying the answers. This really did the copy cat no good because the students were expected to work out the equation in the space provided on the worksheet. Unfortunately, the answer key was minimal assistance to me as well, because it did not show how to set up the problem. One AUDACIOUS student, who had his math figured out and completed, said, “You mean you’re the teacher, and you don’t know how to do this?!” Being smarter than the teacher was most assuredly the highlight of his day.

This class period may not have been one worthy of ECLAT for me, but that’s okay. I am not a substitute teacher for brilliant success, fame, glory or applause. I am a substitute teacher because I enjoy the ALACRITY of the kids. Sometimes as adults and the many responsibilities, we lose our zeal and eagerness. We can become dull, tired and void of much liveliness. Is that the kind of life God wants for was? Absolutely not!!

As a Christian:
I have been redeemed and forgiven. (Colossians 1:13-14)
I have been adopted as God’s child. (Ephesians 1:5)
I cannot be separated from the love of God. (Romans 8:35-39)
I may approach God with freedom and confidence. (Ephesians 3:12)
I am God’s workmanship. (Ephesians 2:10)
I am complete in Christ. (Colossians 2:10)
I should “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus.” I Thessalonians 5:16-18

These are only a few reasons why we should get rid of the doldrums and let ALACRITY permeate and radiate through us.
